Air Mattresses Explained

A ‘full replacement mattress’ completely replaces any foam mattress used on a hospital bed. The depth of our full replacement mattress is 7 inches, and the user is effectively lying on 17 cells of air being pumped through the mattress. This mattress is designed for patients at a very high risk developing bed sores.

For those at a lower risk of developing bed sores, an ‘overlay’ mattress may be used. This involves a 4-5 inch air mattress being placed on top of the foam mattress. We don’t typically offer overlay mattresses.

The foam air mattresses we provide as standard is designed for those at a medium to high risk of developing bed sores.

Easy Care 7 Mattress come with a pump that maintains a constant supply of air through the mattress. This pump is plugged into the wall and electricity maintains the supply of air from the pump.

The red output box enables the user’s weight to be input for optimum comfort and safety. The mattress can carry weight of up to 180kg.

There is a static and dynamic setting. The dynamic setting enables air cells that alternately inflate and deflate in a cycle to relieve pressure on the body.

There is an alarm that triggers if the mattress loses air.

Cushion mode enables the user to sit upright in the bed without creating a pinchpoint.

Finally, there is the setting can be locked at the pump.

Don’t worry, we will always explain exactly how the equipment works and won’t leave until the customer is entirely comfortable with it.

The pump automatically switches off when the optimum internal pressure is reached.

There is a 2-inch layer of foam built into the mattress in cases of a power outage. We can also supply a foam mattress in case of extended power outage.

There is also an emergency deflator chord if CPR needed to be administered.
