Features of this Balliol Bariatric Chair

Four Way Stretch Fabric

Four way stretch fabric can stretch and recover its original shape in all four directions, thus preventing friction and reducing the risk of pressure sores. This breathable material complies with infection control policies in NHS and Healthcare settings.

Dual Motor

Independent leg and back control means the legs can be raised without reclining the back, great for reading, eating or watching television. It also enables the back to be reclined slightly while being able to keep the feet on the floor. A Single motor chair on the other hand, will automatically raise the footrest when reclining back.

About this Balliol Bariatric Chair

The Balliol Bariatric Chair is designed to deliver comfort, stability and pressure‑care support for users up to 50 stone (317 kg). Built with a reinforced leg lift and a dual‑motor mechanism, it allows the backrest and leg rest to move independently, giving users full control over their posture and hip flexion. This is especially beneficial for individuals managing reduced mobility, fatigue, or specific clinical needs.

The chair features a 28‑inch seat width as standard, with the option to reduce the width to 26 or 24 inches using removable blockers. Seat depth can also be reduced by 1 or 2 inches on request, ensuring a tailored fit for a wide range of body shapes. The adjustable waterfall back cushions can be repositioned or removed to support users with mild kyphosis, scoliosis or reduced muscle mass.

Upholstered in Haven Steel on the arms and Dartex Grey on the seating surfaces, the Balliol matches the look and feel of our popular Lynton Chair. The four‑way stretch fabric is breathable, wipe‑clean and compliant with NHS infection‑control standards, helping to reduce friction and support pressure management.

Whether used in a hotel, home or care setting, the Balliol offers smooth, quiet movement, excellent stability and a reassuringly robust design.
